Soft Skills for Impact
11/25/2023

The second session of the Climate Gen Philippines focused on soft skills capacity building for the participants, which will help them implement the projects. The program started with a self-check, wherein the participants gave analogies of their feelings for the past week using marine animals (e.g., whales, sharks, starfish, etc.). After which was the session on Social Media for Advocacy by Ms. Aivy Rose Villarba, Cardoner Volunteers Coordinator from Ateneo de Davao University.
The session also had a workshop on choosing the target persona and creating the one-week content plan. After a short health break, the session was followed with a talk on The Good Green Language of Earth Optimism by Ms. Precious Kyrie Undag, Seniors’ Integration Program Coordinator from Ateneo de Davao University.
Evaluation
The participants grasped the importance of social media and how it can be a tool to emphasize and share advocacies in a larger scope. Advocacy content creation was essential to reach the target audience and practice purposive content in the online set-up. The participants also appreciated sessions on Non-Violent Communication and Social Responsibility and how advocacies can be spread more effectively through good green language and earth optimism. Ultimately, compassionate communication in the online and face-to-face set-up was exercised and enhanced in this session.
